Tomato Man... Before & After

YES, my garden actually produced a little Tomato Man. Isn't he cute? Better yet, notice the hunk holding the Tomato Man. NO, that is not my youthful 18 year old son. This is actually my 42 year old hotty-hubby, Scott. Yeah, I should probably hang out with him more, maybe some of that ambition to stay fit would rub off on me... Oh well. HA HA!

Anyhoo... I just had to show you my mutant tomato. Below, you can see that he was tasty with some pizza for KayLee. Poor little guy, never knew what sliced him!

HAPPY LABOR DAY!

A little MIA again

Yo dolls! (And dad!) I have decided NOT to share my newbie item unless you request to see it by email or leaving a comment here. (I will zap ya a JPEG, Kathleen and Tiffany, since you commented!) I don't want to ruin the surprise for my mom's birthday, but at least she knows she is getting something! HEE HEE!

I have been under the weather today, a bit of a flu bug or just plain old nerves turning into an ulcer because of stress related to getting things done and wrapped up for school beginning on Friday; AND trying to not disappoint my peeps (customers) by pushing off their much appreciated orders. { The bracelets are coming, Miss L in IL and the dangles are being wrapped up, Miss A in E'ville, and the Keybling is coming Miss K in FL... thanks again for the orders! }

Ok, so I need to get motivated and moving, DH will be home later tonight, so it is up to me to do THE DO, if you know what I mean! OH, and if anyone wants to come over and get some zucchinis, please do! I get 2-4 EACH DAY! UGH! I need to find some new recipes!

Have a nice night!

Ah, Nature

I thought nothing could bring down my spirits this morning! I got on the scale and am back down to where I was a month ago (lost 6lbs) - that Chicago Pizza...

THEN, I looked outside to the garden, my daily ritual since we have deer that live in the woods behind our house... Look at what last night's storm did to it....

One corn-stalk, maybe two survived the second batch of corn we planted. The first three rows survived, their stalks were strong enough for the wind. The second three rows, not so lucky.
We were letting some lettuce go to seed, the storm uprooted those - see corn top left laying on the zucchs.

And the most disheartening picture... three rows of corn, just tasseling, wasted. If you look up top you can just see the corn has taken off a chunk of the zucchini plant, from which I got yet another four since yesterday morning! I guess I am going to have to move the corn since it is laying all over the cantaloupe and could kill that if I don't.

Tons to do, so I better go! Have a great day!

From the Garden

THISSSSSSSSSSSSSS is what happens when you go a week without checking on the garden. Before I left for TN this huge zucchini was about 6" long. ONE week later........ PERFECT for zucchini bread (cake)! The other two will be fried with beer batter, most likely.

WOWSERS! I had to put an average pen by them to give you an idea of the size of what I can grow from the garden!

I have had about two dozen cucumbers and two dozen radishes so far, too. The carrots are still growing, the watermelon and cantalope are getting there and those tomatoes and corn stalks should be ripe soon, too!!!!!!!!!!

Turkey Italian Subs

I made these delectable Italian subs last week! These are the best, I am tellin' ya! And SO VERY VERY EASY to make, I can't express it enough! I got my Southern Living at Home Kit and it included some awesome cookbooks! This one came from the Weeknight Busy Mom's Cookbook. I doubled the recipe because we have a family of six, including my hubby who eats twice as much as a normal human. Thank goodness he works out and doesn't drink sodas, eat candy and has a high metabolism, because if he didn't he would weigh about 550 !

Anyway, I was glad that I doubled the recipe because even my three year old loved it! Everything was GONE, POOF, TOTALLY CONSUMED by lunch the next day! These recipes are awesome! I wish I had taken a picture of the Monte Cristo Sandwiches I made, they were awesome, too!

If you would like to get your hands on an awesome cookbook filled with some easy-prep and easy-made recipes, that taste gourmet and taste wonderful, GET THIS ONE! It would be perfect for a wedding shower gift, too, for those new brides! Contact me if you would like to purchase one! You won't regret it!

Seasonal WHITE Chili

Since I am ditching my hubby again to go to another fundraiser/crop this weekend, I figured I could at least make him some food so he doesn't starve to have to cook himself.

HOLY CRAPOLA, I love this recipe for White Chili! Scott will especially love it since it has chicken in it and he is so health conscious. My sister led me to this recipe via Seasonal Delights Magazine. It is a wonderful quarterly ezine, that I believe is also paper-printed as well. Kelli is very creative with her crafts, but even more talented in the kitchen! You need to purchase a subscription for downloading, but I tell ya, it is worth it! Just $5.00 an issue when you subscribe for a year. The typical ezine has over 40 pages, tons of pictures and tutorials for her crafts and recipes. Check out her personal blog, too! She includes lots of other ideas inbetween the ezine issues there. I know white chili is more for fall and winter, but after I read the simplicity of the recipe's instructions and looked over the ingredients, I couldn't wait! I knew it was going to taste awesome, and IT DOES!!!

Howdy!
