NOT so Quickie Update

Morning! My kids have an early 12:30pm release today, so my time is limited, but I thought I would update ya, in case you thought I dropped off the face of the earth!

I am busy filling Mother's Day orders (and on that NOTE: CHERYL: Just got my crystals in yesterday! I was missing one of yours! You are the next on my beading board; Angie W: I didn't forget, just been busy the last three days! I will email ya soon!) and was busy all day yesterday wrapping up the SheetLoad of Cards submissions! I love the card-making part, but the whole photo-taking I could seriously do without! I need to take a class or something! HA!

The HHGallery was SUPAH fun last weekend! After not being able to be a vendor last year from the surgery that went BAD, it was soooo nice being surrounded by other artisans, musicians and FUN customers. I had some sales, made some new friends (HI MARVIN!) and even had a brief chat with the local newspaper, so I wouldn't be surprised if I am in the paper! I wouldn't know, because I don't get it! HAHA! After opening my big mouth, I was also asked by the newspaper person about writing up an editorial about Art in school and how it is a shame that the arts are slowly being removed from the curriculum. So, I guess that is something else that is now added to the agenda... like I need more to do! BUT, that is seriously something that I feel strongly about, so I will do it eventually.

I am expecting a NICE shipment from Bev at Precious Scraps!! I LOVE designing for her, she gives us free reign on our projects and gives us really awesome kits and goodies! When that shipment comes I will be going crazy with cards and possibly another scrapbook page or two! (SHOCK!!)

Besides all of this, I still have some cards that need to be whipped up for the Christian Paper Crafts Magazine's Fall Debut ISSUE! I better crank out some good stuff since I am going to be the 'Featured Designer' in the mag! OH, and if you haven't heard, this is NOT an e-zine! It is actually going to be printed up and on SHELVES! It may not be in WalMart, but you never know! So, I am very excited about that!

Oh, I forgot! It looks like I am actually safe in saying that Josh's graduation announcements are the next thing to be designed and produced! He has pulled some crap on his grades again, this year, but nothing too bad that it is going to keep him from graduating, THANK GOODNESS!!

I guess if you look over the first four months of 2009, I am doing pretty darn good. Considering I have had some MAJOR (personal) issues in and out of the first quarter, all in all, I think I am on the upswing of things. Trust me, I am not telling you all this to 'toot' my own horn; I just like to share my experiences in hopes that others can get inspired to stretch themselves into trying something new or tackling that obstacle that seems just impossible to conquer! I also like to reflect upon my achievements so that it keeps me going in those times of trials and tribulations. IF I hadn't had some really good things to focus on a week ago or so (when I thought the world was crumbling down upon me), you might have found me in the mental ward at the Hospital. No joke. BUT, I had some pending issues that couldn't be avoided, so this forced me to pull myself together and keep moving forward! THANK YOU, GOD!!!

OH, did I mention the card ministry that I am going to start soon at my church?? Yeah, I KNOW, just another thing to keep me busier than ever! BUT, I have been wanting to do this for over a year now, when my sister told me about her card ministry at her church. I am hoping to get the junior high and senior high schoolers involved in cardmaking! Not just to learn about color, composition, balance and creating, but also to learn the aspect of volunteering their time, giving back to the church and sharing themselves with others! Now, THAT is a ministry!!

What kills me is that everyone thinks that Stay At Home moms like myself have no responsibilities! Did it ever occur to them that since we are at home, we are filling our lives with things that MEAN something to us and our families and NOT sitting around eating bonbons? I mean, HELLO! My hubby is gone for 11 hours a day, WHO do you think does the cleaning, the shopping, the homework, the cooking, the 'upkeep' on EVERYTHING?? I hope this clears things up that just because I am home, it doesn't mean I am 'loafing'!

Well, that is the update for now! I probably won't post again until Thursday unless I come up with something that just commands to be seen on the blog!! It is Mother's Day-time, I have a bunch to do! I will be out at the HHGallery on Friday and Saturday until 2pm. My parents are coming in this weekend, so that is why I won't be out there on Sunday. BUT, if you need anything, just comment on this post and I will get back to you within 24 hours! OK?

Aw, Darn it, NO CARD!

Sorry for not having a paper-creation for you today! I spent the afternoon wrapping up some jewelry orders that I had from a few weeks back. Now on to finish packing and getting ready to ship tomorrow! WOOHOO!

I will hopefully start crafting on a regular and STEADY schedule after the holidays!! I DO need a BREAK, let me tell ya! There's only so much that these carpal tunnel wrists can withstand! At this pace, I better whip out the wrist braces during the day (instead of just at night) to help keep them working!

ONE MORE CHANCE!

Sunday is the last time you will be able to see my goodies in person in Jasper, Indiana! I am at the Train Depot from noon to 4pm on Sunday! I have tons of new ScissorBling and BagBling, perfect for those items with zippers, be it purses or jackets or WHATEVER!

I had a TOTALLY FUN time today with a couple of young girls at the table next to me. AH, YOUTH! Jade and Cheyenne are both really great girls with SUPAH personalities, not to mention CUTE!!!!!! (Physically and mentally, too! Might just have to hook Josh up with one of them for Prom! HA!)

Josh had his SAT's for the second time today, he said that he did better this time, or at least he said it seemed easier than last time. It must have worked his brains because he had his lights out at 8:30pm when the little ones were going to bed! He is such a fine young man, he was happy to stay and help me wrap things up this afternoon at the show. Did I mention that he brought me a sandwich that he made himself? AND Scott hadn't even told him to do so? AWWWWWW! I love you, Josh! (What a sweetie!)

Anyhoo.... come out and see us tomorrow at the show! Train rides are from noon to 3pm! $3.00 a person for a 30 minute ride to no-where, but I am sure it will be fun! OH, and there are ceramics that can be painted by your youngsters, perfect gifts for grandparents and teachers! Handmade items ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Black Friday

.... didn't happen!

I slept in until a WHOLE 7am and then got up and made my To-Do list for this weekend's show. After almost having a coronary, I got started on the loooooong list and got everything finished at 9pm, WHEW! Glad I worked up until 9pm because the last final thing I made last night was the first thing sold today! (Thanks, Cheryl!)

Today's show was SUPAH GREAT!

I met a lot of new crafters and one special artist, Katie. She is really talented and has a keen eye for mixing and matching patterns and color in custom totes and aprons and anything else sewing-related!

I took a friend out to supper tonight for her birthday......

HAPPY BIG "Three Three" BIRTHDAY CHAS!!!! {Enjoy the Velvet if you can! LOL!!!}

Thankful Thought for today

YO FOLKS, it is Sunday night and I have been plugging away at the jewelry all day long! I am totally wiped out! Tomorrow is going to be MORRRRRRRRRRRE fun because I get to play with paper! It seems like I pull my best work out at the last minute of a deadline, so I will be getting some things done tomorrow for Sheetload of Cards' next issue!

Seeing as how Thanksgiving is just four little days away, I thought I would post some things that I am thankful for right now.

Not all of you know that I had a mamogram and a chest xray done a couple of weeks ago, but just Friday had confirmation that there is nothing "questionable" going on now. That does make me feel so happy, but at the same time makes me wonder why I have been having some isolated pain. It has now gone away in its' entirety, so if it re-surfaces I will head back for more testing, maybe an ultrasound next time. But for now, I am thankful to be able to not worry like I had been for a select five days.

I am also thankful that KayLee has finally gotten over her fever and sore throat and will be headed back to school tomorrow. She's excited, too!!

I am SOOOOOOOOOO thankful that I got the kids' Christmas shopping done (for the most part) this weekend, that way I can focus on the reason for the season!

Josh's grades at school are climbing with each report card, so I am grateful that he has really pulled together some determination within himself to get'r done his senior year!

Final thought for today is that I am thankful for my hubby and that my hubby has a career that allows me to stay home and be there for KayLee when she is home from school three days in a row. Or where I can go shopping and spend an easy $500.00 on some much needed clothes and shoes. Know what I mean? There is nothing that any of us should be more thankful for than that of security, love and support. (don't get me wrong, I have my moments with Scott, believe me!, but for the most part, I got the better end of the deal in this marriage. That is something that I continue to strive to make better about myself, so that one day maybe Scott will actually think that he is the one who got lucky with me!)

I am going to post a few more things over the next few days that I am thankful for, but until then, please post the same on YOUR BLOG or comment here of things that you are thankful for, too! AND challenge others who read your blog to do the same!

Show Results

Since a bunch of you have asked about the show...... well, it was slower than last year, but I did kind of expect that with the economy being what it is and all! I mean, a lot of us are still suffering from the recent price of $4.00 a gallon/gas, am I right?

At least the price of a gallon of gas has come down now! We have $2.19 here in Southern Indiana, what is it in your neck of the woods?

I have taken pictures of the cards I made last week and a few jewelry items that I got finished up on Saturday, but I haven't had time to take pictures of today's wares yet! I will take pictures of today's items tomorrow and will try to share something with ya. I am SUPAH busy, but am very excited with all that I got done over this weekend!

If I had ANY energy left I would get my butt out of this bed and go get the camera, but seriously, I am just too pooped to poop! So, I will get to it tomorrow. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and I will email everyone back tomorrow or Tuesday, replying in the order they were received.

I am going to be MIA this weekend from the blog. I am on a jewelry-making-extravaganza for the next 48 hours! Dear hubby took the kids out of town to his parents', Josh is at his dad's and has some school functions to attend tonight and tomorrow for Business Professionals of America and I have FOUR, yes, FOUR art shows coming up! YIKERS!

The first one is next weekend, so I need to get a TON done! And, of course the only way to do that is to AVOID THE PHONE and COMPUTER!!!!!!! So, either leave a message and I will call you back, or email me and I will either get back to you late at night or early the next morning. I am going to check email before I go to bed and that is it! (Well, if I can control myself, that is! HA HA!)

Here's an invitation for the locals!! My long-time family friend, Sandy Baker is a past sorority member of Psi Lota Xi and current Vice President of this local chapter. They are hosting a fundraiser on October 14th at the Jasper Knights of Columbus. Monies raised at this fundraiser goes towards wonderful local philanthropic projects.

Do you remember what I sound like? HA HA! Sorry about the lack of posts, but I have been trying to play catch up this week. Always seems like there's EVEN MORE when I get done with what I had on my list! UGH!!!!!!!!!

I had over 250 emails to go through yesterday in my business email, and finally got down to 12! WHEW! THEN I had nearly 100 in the other! Still only got through half, though. Oh, well.

I had to commit myself to NO computer time and NO fun to get inspired to get through the muck, but I managed somehow. WOOHOO!

I will post some goodies SOON!

New Cards

Good Afternoon PEEPS! I managed to get in some craftytime at the paper-side of the hobby room this weekend. Just a little though. I did work up some cards from that paper set that I posted on Saturday! I took that picture on Friday, so I was able to use the paper set (again by My Mind's Eye: Wild Asparagus) Friday night. I made up just a small batch of 7 or so cards so far. I still have some of it left, but think I am going to move on to another craft. I get bored easy and NO I do not have ADHD! HA HA!

I will post some pics as soon as I find the camera again! I can never remember where I put it last. OR is my hubby just foolin' with me? I'll have to ask him.... hmm....

I need to take inventory of my crystals and sterling silver to place a replenishment order tonight, so after that I think I am going to make up some new bracelets from some new lampwork sets you haven't seen yet. So, that's the plan, MAN!

WHAAAAA'S UP?????

FIRST, a reminder that SHEETLOAD of CARDS has their new issue out! It was made available for download on Monday, Labor Day. HOWEVER.....

SECOND, I couldn't let you know about the new issue of SheetLoad of Cards, because I had NO internet service. I also had no cable either. YEP, ALLLLLLLLLLLLL DAY, on a holiday, I HAD NO TV! This normally wouldn't be a big deal, since I always find something else to do when the kids (or hubby with his Chicago Cubbies) take over the television. BUT, here I was all alone, at home, allowed to watch what I want, when I want, as loud as I want.... and I couldn't.

WHY?

Apparently, because a few hunters were out 'hunting' and supposedly accidentally 'shot' the fiber optic cable line. Hmmmm.... HOW do you ACCIDENTALLY shoot a cable line that is hanging up in the air dangling from those tall "A" shaped towers? UH HUH. That's all I am sayin'.

PLEASE NOTE: I scheduled the tomato man post (below) on Sunday, so I would be sure to give you something to read in the morning before posting about SheetLoad's new issue. BUT, by the time the internet returned Scott had returned home with the kids and then I didn't have time to post.

THIRD, I have sickos in the house. Scott, my DH who NEVER gets sick, has actually been sick since last week. I am guessing he gave it to Eli, who stayed home from school. With a screaming 103 degree fever and shaking uncontrollably with chattering teeth, to boot, I decided to cancel his doctor appointment and take him immediately to the clinic just down the road. Ear infectionS, sinus infection, sore throat, coughing until gagging. YEAH, I guess you could say he was sick. So, I got to 'baby' my six year old all day. I love taking care of them when they are sick. I feel so wanted and they never complain about anything. They just lay there and let me hold them. AHHHH. I hope he returns to school tomorrow, otherwise we will be doing make-up work for HOURS on Thursday night or the weekend. OH, Josh is sick, too, with a slight head-cold, but nothing like Eli or Isaac's green nose. The only ones NOT sick in the house are KayLee and myself. I guess I should mention that Josh won't let me hold him anymore, though, when he's sick. Probably would be weird if I held my 18 year old because his head hurt anyway, don't ya think? HA HA!

FOURTH, we had the 'meet-the-teacher & see-your-kid's-room-night' last night. That is always fun until you find out that they want you to pay fees for this, volunteer for that... etc. I LOVE my children's teachers! They are ALL so wonderful and have all been teaching over 20 years EACH! So, I am very comfortable with their ability and admire their passion for teaching!

FIFTH, I have a ton of cards to show you! I took just a few sheets of cardstock and patterned papers and made between 10-20 different cards with each set! SO, I will try to take pictures of those tomorrow for ya. BUT, I do have to get my hair done tomorrow, which will be quite a task since I am getting it colored this time. WHAT color? Dunno. I LOVE the red, but wonder if I should do the blond just one more time. I can't get too crazy or I might scare away all of my jewelry class students from the get-go. Then again, people sometimes expect artists to look grunge-y or funky or have strange gypsy attire and purple strands of hair... so I guess I should be safe whatever I end up looking like, right? If I don a new 'do' that is funkier than the one in my profile, I will update you with a pic.

OK, that is enough for my updating. Stay tuned for some really cool cards and a few pieces of new artisan jewelry, too. Last weekend was VERY productive so I have quite a few new things for ya!

Extended WEEKEND!

WOOHOO! You know, I just gotta say that I LOVE having Monday still to get even MORE things done! It is midnight and I am still energized! I am sure it has NOTHING to do with that double Smiley Face Cappuccino (posted below) that I had this morning!

I just wanted to post another THANK YOU to everyone who voted in August! I really do appreciate all of my friends' and customers' support of votes AND orders!!! Please enjoy tomorrow's extra time off (unless you DO have to work) and check back this week for some new items!

Hmm....

ANYONE just itchin' to win that FREEBIE?!?!?! Last day for votes is tomorrow! I am extending the deadline to 4pm, so that gives me more time to get it done since I plan on sleeping in tomorrow morning.

I am going to pull an all-nighter on the art studio, otherwise known as the front parlor off the living room. I am needing to move things around to get it more easily workable since I know how I use the room and my supplies and materials better now. I moved up here on New Year's Eve and have only added more stamp sets and more lampwork and Swarovski, so nothing BIG really. {Oh, but I did just add 37 more rolls of ribbon last weekend when HL had it 1/2 off... OOPS, forgot about that!}

SO, since I can't convince my hubby that we need to move (to give me more room) or build me one of those buildings in the back of our double-lot property so I can add the lampwork studio to that, I am just going to have to re-vamp what I got. Don't get me wrong, I know I have a LOT of room, here, I just don't think it is very efficient. And when the clutter is viewable, it clutters my creativity. I have 32 drawers to possibly move things around in, so I am sure it is doable.

I have to admit. I didn't get as much done as I wanted to today. I have either head-allergies, a head-cold or a slight migraine still from last Thursday, so I decided to lay down for an hour. Well, I guess my body needed it, because I woke up THREE hours later! UGH! I got nothing done! BUT, at least I am energized for tonight! If I get a bunch done tomorrow I am planning on painting and glazing some furniture pieces on Monday. I love re-furbishing dressers and desks, that is so relaxing to me. Plus it adds life to a piece of furniture when you update it like that. I will take before's and after's when I get to that task. I already bought the new hardware pulls, so it is a task that will eventually happen!

Bad BLOGGER, BAD!

I admit it, I have been slacking on the blog-posting. I can't help it! You would think that having all of the kids in school at the same time (four afternoons a week), leaving me over 12 hours of ALONEEEEEE TIME, would make me blog more! BUT, NO! I am BUSIER than EVAH!

I have some goodies to show you coming up later this week, but I still have a couple of customers waiting on me... So, they come first of course! I do have to admit that I wrapped over 4 dozen EarringBlings (dangle sets) yesterday! I have a wonderful returning-customer that ordered a batch of dangles in a wonderful variety of colors, so she gets to pick first... {After that the rest will go in inventory for the online store}. I can't believe I made so many sets! I guess I got a little out of control when picking out the remaining sets yesterday! Before I knew it I had sterling silver and Swarovski crystals flung all over the place! HA HA! So, I watched a couple of movies (Monster-In-Law and Mr&Mrs Smith) and wrapped away!

I am glad I got a lot of practice in on the wire-wrapping and looping, since that is one of the first techniques I will be teaching this fall in my jewelry classes. If you are local and are interested in taking one of my classes, call Jasper Community Arts Center for time and fee info.

Well, I better get out of here and go back to the bead board! I hope everyone got through their Monday okay and are well on their way to yet another work week! I know I am! Working at home ROCKS! I have to say that I have never been happier!

Strutin'

YEP, shopping for senior pictures was f u n . . . Spent a bunch of money on stuff that I think I will let the photographer choose from. ONE shirt, ONE tie = $128.00; and that was just for one outfit. Did I say it was f u n ? HA! At least Josh LOVES what he chose for the formal headshot for the senior year book. SO do I, I have to admit. He's gonna look HOT!

That was Saturday.

SUNDAY I spent wrapping up three bracelets on order, packaging, and also wrapping up some dangles, too. This one gal better LOVE me (she does, she's related!) because I had to re-string it like 5 times, seriously FIVE times to get it to fit right. HA HA! That is what being a PERFECTIONIST does to you, I guess.

THEN today my dear Isaac had his first official day of school. Preschool, that is. HE LOVED IT! He got to ride the bus home with Eli and KayLee, too. As he walked up the driveway, he had this 'strut' like, "YEAH, I went to school. YEAH, I hung with the homies. YEAH, I'm all THAT~AND a bag of chips AND some DIP!" HA HA HA HA!! HE DID! He walked like he owned the road! SO FUNNY! Even at three, he knew he accomplished a big feat!

I got soooooooooooo much done while I was home alone; laundry, cleaning, cooking, checked the finances, did some business stuff. I still didn't get ALL done that I needed to (I am emailing you tomorrow, Ms. K in FL!); but that is what Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are for, too! Isaac goes to school four days a week from Monday to Thursday, so I will catch up quickly, I think!

SO, enough for now... except to say that for those who wanted to see the new family-item, I figured a way to perfect it design-wise, but need to make my mom's before shooting pics for you, so I will get that done this week and then email everyone a pic. Except for you, Mom! SORRY! HA!

Wrapping up summer!

From the last day of school on the 23rd of May to the last day of summer tomorrow, time sure has flown by! Josh begins his Senior year at the High School and Eli is entering first grade tomorrow, while my sweet KayLee has her first official day of kindergarten! Isaac goes to preschool on Monday since the preschoolers go Monday through Thursday... So, I will have a picture of Isaac for you Monday at noontime or so!

I had to go shopping tonight for KayLee. She needed a new pair of shoes. She left her tennis shoes at a pool party on Tuesday and I wasn't able to get a hold of the couple until late tonight, of course AFTER I had returned from shopping already! HA HA! Oh, well, she could use a new pair of sneakers anyways!

I am really sad to see all of my babies growing up so fast. Especially Josh. One year from now he could be POOF gone to a college far far away. That's hard to swallow. And knowing my 'baby' is in SCHOOL as of Monday, is just plain crazy! But, I am sure I will have enough to keep me busy with all of you wonderful folks out there! I look forward to having MORE stuff, MORE often, so be sure to get me in your favorites to see some paper-crafts and artisan jewelry EVERYDAY!

A little MIA again

Yo dolls! (And dad!) I have decided NOT to share my newbie item unless you request to see it by email or leaving a comment here. (I will zap ya a JPEG, Kathleen and Tiffany, since you commented!) I don't want to ruin the surprise for my mom's birthday, but at least she knows she is getting something! HEE HEE!

I have been under the weather today, a bit of a flu bug or just plain old nerves turning into an ulcer because of stress related to getting things done and wrapped up for school beginning on Friday; AND trying to not disappoint my peeps (customers) by pushing off their much appreciated orders. { The bracelets are coming, Miss L in IL and the dangles are being wrapped up, Miss A in E'ville, and the Keybling is coming Miss K in FL... thanks again for the orders! }

Ok, so I need to get motivated and moving, DH will be home later tonight, so it is up to me to do THE DO, if you know what I mean! OH, and if anyone wants to come over and get some zucchinis, please do! I get 2-4 EACH DAY! UGH! I need to find some new recipes!
