Anything Goes at A Crafty Little Place!!

Happy Tuesday!!

Today's the last day of August!! OH MY GOSH!!!!!  Before you know it, it will be the last day of FALL!  My mom always told me that time goes by faster as you get older. NOW I know what she means!  On that note, today marks the beginning of yet another fabulous week-long challenge at 'A Crafty Little Place'!!  And you can do this one, I KNOW you can!  Because it's an 'ANYTHING GOES' challenge!  That's right!! ANY creation will do!  So, upload one of your best cards to be able to get a chance to win the prize!

WHAT is the prize? The chance to display the TOP 3 or WINNER BADGE from A Crafty Little Place!!

My card was based on a past sketch by Jen DelMuro and is using the supplies as listed below from the DIE CUTS R US STORE!!  I made another Thank You card, but this time it's for my other son (who looks like this!) to give to his teacher!  I thought I would try to make it girly for Mrs. Denu by using the Damask papers from My Mind's Eye Lush paper line, but still keep it somewhat masculine (by keeping it streamlined and brown/greenish) since it's from Eli.  How'd I do?  Did I pass the test?  Eli thinks so!

Patterned Paper: My Mind's Eye Lush papers Stripe and Damask
Stamps: So Random Up & Down Sentiment, Puddlejumpers Schooltime Landon
Flower: Chocolate flower by Kaisercraft

challenge this week!!

A little "thank you" goes a LONG way....

... especially when it involves a Hershey's bar!!

Isn't this adorable?  This week's challenge at 'A Crafty Little Place' is to make a foodie item!!!!!!!  I used the Nana's Kitchen line from Die Cuts with a View for my candy bar wrapper!  I used a Thank You vertical sentiment down both sides of the wrapper, too!  You can see the supplies linked under the last close-up picture....

My Isaac has claimed this creation for his new Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Small!  Isn't that sweet?  I used some Stickles glitter glue to sparkle up the green dots on the wings and used a Quikutz die for the scrolly diecuts!
Patterned Paper: Die Cuts with a View Nana's Kitchen
Stamps: So Random Up & Down Sentiment, Lollipop Butterfly
Buttons: Nook & Pantry buttons

Sharing my Box Tops Chart

It took me forever to get this done!!  OVER 12 hours to be exact!!  But I like it!

CLICK to open in a new window then click to enlarge and zoom to see details!

I shared this with my Meljen's DTeam a bit ago and thought you all may like to see it, too!

The students at two of my kids' school compete each month to see who brings in the most BOX TOPS (General Mills products).  The preschool classes and kindergarten classes (some half-day kindergarten) compete against each other (hence that brown horizontal line about 1/3 of the way down).  AND the 1st graders compete against the 2nd graders.  Whoever wins gets the HONOR of displaying the 'Silver Scissors' award on their door for the month (12" honkin' pair of scissors I made using my cricut and tons of silver glitter!) AND they win some candy, bookmark, pencils, etc.  Last year we raised over $2100.00, up 40% from the previous year without the competition and prizes!  Our goal is to do $2600.00 this year!  Next year we will just make a new grid with posterboard and glue over the numbers that we enter into the chart this year!!  SO, KNOWING that I wasn't going to have to do this next year, I figured I ought to spend some quality time on it and make it nice!

The stars are red-lined double sticky and covered with silver glitter, I used my Cricut to make the statement at bottom and used a variety of rub-ons by Making Memories for the teachers' names!  The sun was going down, so I didn't get a good pic of this, but maybe tomorrow.  OH, and to give you an idea of the size, that is my hubby behind there holding it over his face.  It's over 4' tall and normal posterboard width of 28 or 30".

Thanks for letting me share!!  nicole xoxox

A bit of versatility there depending on what style your creation is!

So WHERE do you get this awesome array of beautiful colored ribbons?  From Patsy at PRAIRIE BIRD BOUTIQUE!!  She sells them through her etsy store HERE in bundles of three, just like this one, which is called 'Past Autumn' which features ribbon in rust, deep burgundy and an avocado green, just gorgeous!  EACH color is five yards (YEP!  15 FEET EACH COLOR!!), giving you 15 yards of fun for just $5.00!  I KNOW!  I could hardly believe it myself!!  That's LESS than $1.75 a color for 5 yards!!  CRAZY, Right??!!

Well, I am giving this bundle away to help promote Patsy's gorgeous products because I just love them all so much and really want to help her business blossom so she continues to sell these beautiful ribbons!  HOW do you get entered?  A few different ways!

You will get an entry for EACH of the following...
Do ONE or do them ALL to better your chances!

Feeling KRAFTY?

Well, I survived!  YEP, I took my youngest (AND LAST!!! NOPE, not having any more kids for sure!) to kindergarten yesterday!  Thought I would lose it like the Mom at the door hanging all over Grandma who was crying, "MY baby, my BABY!!"  LOL!  It was hilarious!  I felt for her, I did!  But, guess I am a little hardened to it since this was the fourth time sending a kid off to his/her first day of school!  Still sad, but I know how much Isaac has been wanting to go to school.   Plus if he wasn't such a little brain, teaching himself to read when he was just three years old, I would probably worry, but he's gonna do super!

OK, so I know you really are here for the crafty-bit, right?  Well, have no fear, a new challenge is here!  This week's challenge from Stamp, Scrap and Doodle Saturdays is so easy that if you don't play along you are really missing the ticket on an easy entry into a fabulous prize by Sassy Studio Designs!!
Sassy Studio Designs is offering up FOUR DIGIS of the winner's choice, just for playing along with this challenge!  SO, what is the challenge, you ask!?  Well, just use KRAFT paper in your project!!  Kraft paper, also known as the new CRUMB CAKE with Stampin' Up, is a great neutral paper that also has a little bit of a textured look to it!  LOVE THAT!! I used Crumb Cake with Chocolate Chip and some sparkly paper by My Mind's Eye for my card above.  Isn't this image cute, too?  SO SASSY!!  And you know me, I just had to add a little pearly bling to decorate it up!  Copic coloring, of course!

Pop on over to Stamp, Scrap and Doodle Saturdays to enter your Kraft-inspired creation and also to see the other items made using Sassy Studio Designs images!

Enjoy your day!!

Blog Candy and a New Release!!

HEY!! Last day of summer today!!!!!!!  This summer was stressful but it did go by super fast!  I don't know what happened to the days!  The kids are excited for school tomorrow, they got up today at 6am because they couldn't wait to face the last day of summer!  And although I really do enjoy quiet time without referreeing kids all day during the school year, tomorrow is going to be bittersweet.  I am going to be putting my last child in 1/2 Day Kindergarten tomorrow, that's gonna be tough.  Scott just told me that he took tomorrow off so that he could see Isaac go to school at noon, so I am guessing that he's kinda sad his last child is headed to school, too.  Plus he probably knows I am going to be a wreck when I pull away from the school, too!!!!

The next 12 months is going to bring so many momentus occasions!  Besides Isaac starting school, Josh already off for his 2nd year of college last week, and Eli headed to a new school tomorrow (3rd, 4th and 5th are at another location) I will be turning the big FOUR-OH in February, Josh will be turning 21 in May and I will be celebrating my 10th anniversary next July!   WOW, it's gonna be a busy year!!

Well, onto the new release of MELJEN'S DESIGNS today!!!  Aren't these just adorable?  I LOVE aprons, have a few myself that I wear often, otherwise I ruin my clothes while I cook!  So, I am a bit surprised that I didn't use it for my card above, but this 'I Heart You Badge' was just tugging at my heartstrings!  Isn't it sweet?  This week's challenge at the Meljen's Designs BLOG HERE is a color challenge!  Brown, teal and orange are the colors of the week!!  Be sure to play so you can be entered to win THREE images of your choice!!

I am using some of the same seam binding ribbon that is in my BLOG CANDY post below!!  Be sure to sign up for that!  There's not many entries so far, which makes it easier to win, teehee!!  I love how this ribbon just perks up any card, it's so fun being crinkled!!

Well, pop on over to the Meljen's BLOG to see more inspiration using the newly release digis!!  Or just see ALL of Melissa's artistry at the store HERE!!

Enjoy your day!!

Time Is Up!

My time with Amber Ink. is now over.  SNIFF!  I really enjoyed designing for Amber using her awesome images!  She's so talented!  I did get the chance to pass my torch though!  I had so many people that I wanted to give this honor to, it was hard to decide!  But in the end I asked THANH to keep the flame burning!

Thanh is a past fellow Design Team member of mine.  I worked with her for over a year and was just always impressed by her creations!  Check out her blog, Yummy Creations!
Here's my final card as I leave my lovely group of ladies...... this one is using the 'tis the Season digi set!  I used Microsoft Word in import these images on to each other to make a little Christmassy scene!!  I hope you check out the new releases over at AMBER INK.!!  Amber always has great images and I am sure the next release on the 20th will be just as scrumptious!!

Today's a busy day!  Be sure to scroll down to see all of the posts, including the Whimsy Stamps Sale, A Crafty Little Place's Color Challenge AND of course BLOG CANDY!!  (The ribbon on my card here above is using some of that ribbon, but in a gorgeous cranberry red!)

Howdy Peeps!  WOW, it's the last Monday of summer for us here in the Anderson house!!  YEPPERS, my kids start school this Friday!  Josh left last Wednesday to head back up to college and Eli, KayLee and even my Isaac will be in school at the end of the week!  Isaac will be in afternoon kindergarten, so at least I have a little extra time with him over the next school-year!  But, still, I have to remind myself to 'laugh' and not 'cry' when Friday comes around.  So, I may just send this card to myself! LOL!
I used this week's color combo at Picture Perfect Creations to inspire me!  It does look like a happy card with the alternating rhinestones and that ribbon work, right?  Papers are by Die Cuts with a View and the stamp is by Stampin' Up!.  I am including this week's technique challenge at Splitcoast to use ribbon without a bow or knot, as well!  FUN!  Be sure to join in on the challenge at Picture Perfect Creations, you may just win this week's prize!!  Go check out the details HERE!!

NEWBIES by MD & a BLOG CANDY WARNING!

IT'S ANOTHER THURSDAY
RELEASE DAY
&
A NEW CHALLENGE!

Melissa got scholastically inspired again and wow, did she hit these out of the park!  Aren't they awesome??

These images can be found along with others at Whimsy Stamps!

"What is the challenge?" you ask???

I See Double!
{Use 2 of the SAME image on a card!}

This is a little more on the TOUGH side, right?  But if you pop over HERE to the Meljen's Designs blog you will see how the Design Team rocked it out and they will give you some great ideas!!  You don't have to use images by Meljen's Designs, but if you do, you get TWO entries in for the random prize of THREE digis of your choice!!  GOOD LUCK!!

OH, and be on the look out for a BLOG CANDY PROMO I will be hosting!!  I found a wonderful supplier of ribbon through a friend and just LOVE my ribbons!  Patsy from Prairie Bird Boutique HERE sent me an extra bundle of 15 yards in some gorgeous Autumn colors to give away on my blog!  So stay tuned for that!!

But I need it....

HI there!  Sorry, I have been a little MIA lately.  I had to send my oldest son back to college for his 2nd year and it was hard!  I don't know what was wrong with me, I didn't even get this upset last year for his FIRST year of college!  Well, I scooted him out today and he's fine, so I think I will live! HA!

I first want to apologize or the crappy picture of this card!  If you are a regular reader you may remember me saying that my camera takes pictures of the color red/rust/coral HORRIBLE.  Well, here above is a FINE example of that fact!!!!!!!!  Believe it or not, but the lighter of the two colors of cardstock on my card is seriously the SAME color as the pearls!!!!!  YEP, a pinky coral!  I think his picture warrants a NEW CAMERA!!!!!!

Well, please look past the horrible color combo as it appears and think coral, burgundy, ruby red, ok?  I used this adorable DIGI PAPER by Amber Ink. that you can see HERE in the store!  I love the fact that for $1.00 you have a never ending supply of this paper!  Just simply PRINT it over and over as needed and you will have all the paper you need!  COOL right?

The sassy image is also by Amber Ink. called 'But I Need it' digi set.  For $7.00 you can use this over and over and always have a perfectly stamped image, since it is digital!  NO smearing here!! HEEHEE!  Check out this set and all of the images it comes with HERE at the store!

I used yesterday's SplitCoast Stampers SKETCH CHALLENGE SC293 for this card!  I love this layout, it's a good one!  The pearls are by Kaiser Scrapbook and the ribbon is by Stampin' Up!  Maybe I will re-take a picture of this card outside so you can see the real colors of this card!  It is actually quite stunning, not meaning to sound braggy, of course!!

Be sure to check back again later, I will have another post for you today!

PPC24 and a Scrappy card!

HAPPY MONDAY!  (ok, does my late afternoon post tell you HOW HAPPY my Monday has been? LOL!!)

Today's card is inspired by the AWESOME color challenge at Picture Perfect Creations!  Megan sure does know how to challenge me!  This card sketch/style was inspired by my friend, Bev Himsel.  She shared a card with me using scraps similar to this one, so I thought I would find some papers in the challenge colors and put my own spin on it.  Isn't it cute?

I thought this would only take me a half-hour to make... uh, no.  It took me like 2 hours!  I am so anal!!!!  YEP, I said it!  I am so anal!!!!!  I had to have just the right colors, just the right pattern, just the right width, just the right length, etc.......... OH MY GOSH, it seems like I can never make anything SIMPLE! UGH!

POP on over to PPC and take a looksie at all of the challenge cards by the Design Team using this combo!  AND don't forget to play yourself!  There's always a prize involved!!

See you tomorrow!!
